The Ventura Film Festival serves as a multi-genre global film festival that promotes recognition of ecological concerns including forest and ocean preservation and restoration, through a yearly film festival and related events. The festival utilizes the power of cinema to promote activism and develop substantial discourse on these critical conservation concerns.

The Ventura Film Festival was founded in 2004 and has presented countless films, typically more than 200 films every summer, and has drawn recognition from the international film community. Since its founding, the festival has expanded into a substantial cultural happening that brings together cinematic professionals, conservation enthusiasts, and participants from across the globe.

Distinguished events have encompassed presenting celebrated filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the pioneering world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend together with Ian Cairns, 4x world champion website Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA combatant the legendary Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50th Anniversary tribute to West Side Story, which included hosting the entire award-winning cast of West Side Story, featuring Oscar winner/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris together with Golden Globe winner/Academy Award nominee Russ Tamblyn. The Ventura Film Festival creator and executive director was honored to take part, alongside numerous Hollywood elite, in the 50th Anniversary of West Side Story and Hollywood's famous footprint/handprint ceremony recognizing Oscar honorees Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, and Golden Globe winner Russ Tamblyn at the legendary Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This celebration also functioned as the official BluRay premiere by Fox and MGM of the beloved West Side Story, which is universally acknowledged by critics and fans as the most exceptional musical of all time.
